Is Fear Holding Back Your Faith?

We ask God to grow our faith, make us bolder and stronger, but we become the roadblock. We want signs and signals, but we hurry past and miss God altogether.

Fear of change and risk keeps us on the sidelines, or even on the couch because we don’t want to step out in faith.

It’s safer watching from the bleachers instead of participating on the court, isn’t it?

What if we need be more intentional with God before we see great growth in our lives? What if our choices every day are preventing maturation of faith?

If you’re like me, I want to have extraordinary faith and firm belief in all circumstances. However, fear has a tight grip on me lately. I’m afraid to trust, to really believe that God has my back.

What if He lets me down?

(Romans 5:5-8, NLT).

And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

Here’s the thing, when I’m in a daily relationship with God, I will be closer to His will. Because I’m in a tightknit relationship with Him, I will be surer of following His will and my expectations will align closer to His.

God is always good and even when I can’t understand, I need to believe He has my best interest in mind.

I don’t know about you, but I want to have more confidence in this area. I want to always trust and know He’s got my back.
