A quick tip for managing anxiety is to practice deep breathing. 

Here's a simple technique:

1. Find a quiet, comfortable place to sit or lie down.
2. Close your eyes and take a slow, deep breath in through your nose, counting to four as you inhale.
3. Hold your breath for a count of four.
4. Exhale slowly and completely through your mouth for a count of four.
5. Pause for a count of four before beginning the next breath.

Here’s what I wish someone would have told me 10 years ago so I could find sleep instead of trying so many different things.

I understand the frustration and desperation of wanting to get a full night of sleep only to lie in bed counting those dumb sheep.🙄🙄🙄

Wanting to have energy.

Praying for the irritability and anger to go away.

Hoping that your relationships don’t implode because you are like a 🐉!

The reason I know how you are feeling is I was once there.

Two hours a night was a good night for me.

Here’s what I learned: if you aren’t sleeping your health is going to fall apart. But how do you find sleep when it seems like your body can’t do it?!!?

Doing all the healthy things and not sleeping is basically going to undermine it all.

I tried it all. 

The sleep meds caused serious side effects so I was left to “figure it out!”

And I did changing my mindset and utilizing a few different things!

Today I sleep 7-9 hours a night.

Yep it’s true!

 According to a recent article in Chicago Health, an estimated 93% of paper receipts are toxic thermal paper, coated with the chemicals bisphenol A (BPA) or bisphenol S (BPS), which our bodies can absorb when we touch paper coated with them.

Those chemicals can disrupt our hormones and cause lots of problems.

Yuck!

And applying lotion or hand sanitizer before touching them can increase the absorption of these chemicals!

And they are bad for the environment causing problems for our water supply and animals in the environment!

What can you do?

Don’t get a receipt.
Ask the cashier to put it in the bag.
Touch only the back of the receipt (supposedly less chemicals there!)
Wash your hands after touching them.

I remember being in tears and telling my husband t I remember being in tears and telling my husband that I just wanted to be able to sleep.🥺

It sounds silly now but I was sleeping two hours every night (and that was a good night!)

I couldn’t sleep, not at night nor during the day.

I tried over-the -counters. Made me feel like 💩. My sleep still sucked.

A doctor prescribed sleep meds… sure I slept but as a mom to little kids, I was useless until after lunch then.

Mommy-zombie. Yep, that was me.😳😳

And then I developed crazy scary side effects.

My brain felt continually like it was filled with mud and my limbs felt like they were moving through.

I felt like I would sleep again and there wasn’t anyone or anything that would help.

I threw many pity parties.

Here’s what I learned: none of that stuff you take for sleep (OTCs and prescription meds is meant for long-term use!)
