How would you define faith?
Maybe the idea of faith makes you think of your trustworthy car. You know you will reach your destination because you have faith your car will get you there. If it’s an older car with a lot of miles, you might not have faith it will get you there.
We need an anchor for our souls in this life. Many anchor their souls to things that aren’t stable. When hard times hit, they struggle because their anchor wasn’t to something strong.
Faith is more than just salvation, but rather it affects all aspects of our lives. It causes us to trust God in hard times, gives us joy when life is difficult, can move mountains, causes us to want to be more Christ-like and changes our lives.
So what about you? Who are you anchoring to?
A Secure Anchor
The only person stable and unchangeable in this world is Jesus Christ.
(Hebrews 6:19, NLT)
19 This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God’s inner sanctuary.
God’s Word tells us that He is steadfast and trustworthy.
I don’t know about you, but I need something stable.
Verses about Faith
Here are nine reasons why faith is important:
- Eternal life (Ephesians 2:8)
- Growing more Christ-like, more righteous (Ephesians 4:15)
- Hope for the hard times (Hebrews 11:1)
- Trust that God will work it out for our good (Romans 8:28)
- Joy in this life (James 1:2-3)
- To please God (Hebrews 11:6)
- Forgiveness of Sins (Acts 26:18)
- Protection from evil (Ephesians 6:16)
- Move mountains (Matthew 17:20)
Here’s the thing, faith isn’t a feeling. Isn’t that a relief? I don’t know about you, but sometimes I don’t feel like I have faith or at least, I don’t feel like I don’t have enough faith.
God’s Word says that even faith as small as a mustard seed can move mountains.
This is a relief to me and I also know faith is growing within me.
How Do We Get More Faith?

Here’s the thing, we can trust God through the good times and the hard times. He promises us to be with us through it all.
(Deuteronomy 31:6, NLT).
6 So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.
Because I know we are all busy and spending time with God regularly has to be intentional, I’ve put together some helpful resources together that I’ve personally used.
