Want a Change for the Better: Let God Use Your Mess
Inside: Is your life a perpetual mess? If we want a change for the better, we need to change our perspective and let God use the messes to transform us into someone different. Let’s work with God and learn what He is teaching us.

Today I am honored to be guest posting at Oceans Deep with Meredith Carr. Meredith’s blog is an inspiration for those times when life is trying. She encourages her readers to find and keep following Jesus in the hard. Her theme this summer is “Lessons in the Mess” and I wanted to share what lessons I’ve learned.
Do you seem to be stuck in a perpetual mess? I’m not talking about the clutter in your house or your car. Those are messes you can roll up your sleeves and get to work with the vacuum and Formula 409®. If you’re a mom, you might be able to see a sparkling clean area for about an eye blink.
In other words, the mess I’m talking about is on the inside.
Specifically, the debris in your mind which ebbs and flows daily. Some days you can conquer it, but other days it just wants to spew itself all over your insides. As a result, you can’t break free from it.
My clutter is anxiety. I didn’t know it personally until a few years ago. Anxiety took a hold of me quickly, and it seems to be taking a long time to rid itself of me. In fact, I am sick of it, and I’d douse myself in any cleaning product if it would promise to leave me.
For years I searched and clawed for answers and options to rid myself of it. I hated its ugly influence on my life. In essence, I couldn’t get away from it and it was starting to take me under.
What’s your clutter? Anxiety, depression, or addiction? Maybe something different, but nevertheless it has its tentacles on you and your insides?
Does your mess make you overwhelmed and weary? As a result, you are scrambling for something to give you your old life back, or even take you to a new life?
God Teaches Us in the Mess
When I was in the midst of this strangling time, I wanted it to be different. However, the messes made me re-evaluate myself. I needed some inner heart cleaning. In short, cleaning had to be done one heart string at a time. It was painful and yucky work, and I didn’t want to do it.
To become the best me, each heartstring needed His work.
Five things I’ve learned during messy seasons:

It’s amazing how the lessons keep coming even—especially in the mess.
So much to learn!
Lux- I agree! Or in my case you fail the teachings so they need to be repeated again and again! 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!

Julie,
I am so grateful for your words shared at the #GraceMoments link up. The whole mess thing… it can be overwhelming. I really connected with your words here, “my clutter was my anxiety”… because that is such an introspective way to describe the messes inside our hearts. Hmm.. you have me thinking. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your words with me.
Blessings,
Dawn
Dawn- thanks for stopping by! We all are messy and so much of it is heart stuff. Isn’t it?
Have a great rest of the week!
Julie
Doing the heart cleaning is such hard and painful work but there is so much greater room for love when it’s finished!
