Have you ever seen one of the strongest men or women in the world? These muscle-builders are ripped, and muscles are defined, obvious, and encompassing the whole body.
Whether you like the look or not, it is impressive!
Have you ever wondered how much time, energy, and pain that
Trying to Get Muscles Without the Pain and Energy
As a mom of a young teen, my son has been trying to bulk up for football. His friends have been telling him to eat more and drink protein shakes.
However, I’ve been telling him to get in the weight room. The problem is: one way is a whole lot easier.
Can you figure out which one?
One requires energy, pain
The truth is: getting into the weight room will cause discomfort.
When gaining muscle mass, the muscles need to be torn.
It’s painful and it hurts!
The facts are, lifting causes little rips and tears in the muscles which then need to be rebuilt. This is how muscle mass is gained.
Drinking a protein drink sounds easier, doesn’t it?
Honestly, bulking up requires time, energy, and pain to get big muscles.
It demands going back to the weight even when the muscles are sore and fatigued.
The breaking of the muscles becomes the strengthening and growing of them!
Therefore, while I’m not planning on being any sort of muscular girl, I want strength in life to overcome the hard things that pass my way.
Hard Times = Life
With 100 percent certainty, I can say I will encounter seasons of life that will overwhelm me and cause uncomfortable feelings and pain.
Friend, I’m certain you will come across your own troubles and pain.
So the question is: do you want to take the easy way out or find the strength to get through?
What’s your default when tough times come your way?
- Do you isolate?
- Become bitter?
- Drink or medicate your problems away?
None of the actions above will give you any muscle for dealing with the circumstances of life.
God is the Only Way
God knew that we’d need encouragement and strength for living on Earth, and He gave us help in His word.
As long as we have breath, God has a plan for our lives including the tough times.
Are you going through a struggle right now?
Then get ready for God to use it to not only break you down but to grow you in the process!
Here’s the thing, we can rest assured that these times are going to be a way for Him to grow us and make us more like Him.
Friend, we can trust Him in hard times!
We may think that we don’t have what it takes to make it through, but God’s help isn’t limited.
When we ask God to help us, we can lift the weight of life even when we are sore and fatigued.
Why Pain in this Life?
You might be thinking: great, but why does God allow us to suffer in this life?
Friend, I get this, and I’ve asked myself this question too many times, but I tell myself that God allowed Jesus, His dear Son, to suffer and didn’t withhold the pain that was brought to Him.
Through Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross, the Father was glorified.
He will use our circumstances to make us more like Him.
Specifically, we can trust God when we suffer in life!
“When you suffer and lose, that does not mean you are being disobedient to God. In fact, it might mean you’re right in the centre of His will. The path of obedience is often marked by times of suffering and loss.” ~ Chuck Swindoll
The core truth is, all these struggles are a growth process making us more like Christ even though we might feel like it’s a gross process where all our humanness comes out; we can rest solidly in God using it to make us better.
