Inside: Are you a weary mom? 5 Daily Power Moves to Help You Rise Above the Struggles with God’s Help!

I could barely get off the couch. It felt like I was trying to move my whole body through mud.

My littlest kept me up the majority of the night, and now I needed to find the energy to homeschool the older three while also supply activities for the younger two.

Even though I felt exhausted, in my mind I was comparing myself to other moms who were doing so many more things with their kids than I was.

Art projects.

Outings to the zoo.

Tea parties.

I was lucky to get meals on the table and the laundry done.

On top of all of this, I was trying to teach my kids all I could about Jesus and to stay away from drugs, and not talk to strangers or get into their car.

You know, make sure they know what they should because this world is scary and I wanted them to be prepared.

Gosh it was exhausting because I was exhausted.

Have you been there, friend?

Or maybe you are right there now in the throes of littles and exhaustion.

You constantly badger yourself with:

  • Am I doing enough?
  • What if I’m not doing what I need to do?
  • Why am I so weary?
  • Where is my strength because all I feel is exhaustion?

Weary Moms

As usual, I do some researching for this post.

Mommy fatigue, mommy burnout, and parenting exhaustion are indeed real according to Google.

The reasons behind this is listed as:

  • Lack of a village
  • Threats as in kidnapping, sexual exploitation, and everything that falls within safety of kids. etc.
  • Comparison
  • Feeling like a bad mom
  • Mom guilt

Gosh, I can attest to all of that.

It is harder to raise kids when the village isn’t there anymore.

What happens is everything falls on you and your partner (if they are present) and many times this can add to relationship strain which opens a whole other can of worms.

We may start to resent our partner, our relatives, and possible even our own kids.

The Devil Preys on Weary Moms

One big nuisance that I have encountered many times is the lies the evil one likes to throw my way when I am feeling tired and of low energy.

As usual, his tactics aren’t new as they are the same from the garden, but he capitalizes on when we are struggling.

Maybe you’re noticed this too?

God must not love you if this is this hard…

God should be giving you strength…

The devil makes us question God and who we are in him.

The same tactics that work because they always make us question our relationship with God.

Hope for the Weary Mom

As I look back on the seasons with littles, I didn’t really tap into God’s power.

Sure I spent time in his Word, and prayed, but I didn’t specifically ask for strength in those moments where my energy was failing.

Maybe it was that I didn’t think I needed it.

Or maybe I just forgot or was too consumed on myself?

Here’s the deal:

God tell us He will help us.

He will guide us.

Our Father will give us strength.

God will give us wisdom.

We just have to ask Him for it and believe He will give all of that to us. (Isn’t that faith in a nutshell?)

As humans we think we can do it ourselves, don’t we?

I’ll figure it out.

I can handle it.

So we pull ourselves up by our bootstrings, but those boots get too small and full of holes and cracks. Eventually we can’t do it anymore.

When we have the Creator of the Universe telling us He will help us, shouldn’t we take it?

With mommy fatigue on the rise, perhaps most mommies aren’t tapping into the right place?

Someone once said “we bend so we don’t break!”

Perhaps where we need to begin is on our knees asking God to fill us with all of Him.

Tapping into Strength When You’re a Weary Mom

So what can we do during these seasons where we feel more weary?

We know God is the answer for infusing strength into us, but how do we go about that?

After a lot of prayer, I was led to these 5 Daily Power Moves to Rise Above our Struggles.

I want to disclaim first that we have to be intentional about all of this.

Yes, God asks us to reach out to Him and ask.

See, that’s action on our part: we have to be willing to ask

Sure, does he passively gives us some things at time, of course but our relationships with Him needs to be active on our part also.

Imagine if you constantly give your child “gifts.”

They would come to point where they just expected it regardless of their actions.

God wants us to depend on Him and have a relationship with Him: intentionally focused on Him, making Him the center of our life.

In order to make it through mothering, we need our Savior.

When we place our trust in Him and actively seek Him out, a lot of the fears and worries are lessened.

With Him guiding us, we know we are doing the job He wants us to do.

Will we fail? Of course, because we are human.

But God can overcome what we lack.

I saw this quote this past week:

We bend so we don’t break!

So let’s get to our knees and pray for strength!
