I spent nine years trying to get my health back.

One day in September 2011, my health turned 180 degrees.

I went from someone having a handle on my life to someone who felt like a prisoner.

My days now consisted of random, daily panic attacks, insomnia, dizziness, and balance issues. I was having full body rashes. I was bone-tired and couldn’t find sleep.

As the years wore on and the visits to doctors increased, I was handed lots of pills but nothing helped me find my previous normacly.

Many a nights, I was mad at God because I know He could do something to make my situation better and yet it remained.

I spent more times than I want to admit shaking my fists at God. Looking back, I see God’s hands all over my situation, but during that rough period I couldn’t see the forest in the midst of the trees.

God is For Us

God uses everything we go through, the bad and the really bad. I truly wish I could have put stock in this during that time. It would have brought hope instead of desperation.

Indeed, if we are willing to stick close to Him, believe that He’s got us, and trust the process, we will grow even during the hard times of life.

The last few months, (heck the last year) not only here in the United States, but around the world, it has been difficult.

We have all had normalcy ripped away from us. The things we used to do might not be things we can do now. Many are feeling desperate, hopeless, and frustrated with the state of affairs of the world.

At the beginning of last year, I thought the time spent in lockdown might be good for our family: more time together, slower paced-life, and a renewed focus on what really mattered.

However, as months dragged on, it started to feel like there was something more happening.

As time has gone on, it’s evident, that a lot of evil has descended on our world.

Let me first disclaim, that evil was present before but it looks like many of our eyes have been opened to an “agenda” so it isn’t hidden but being exposed every day.

My biggest problem is, I tend to follow and get myself spending way to much time going down rabbit holes and getting lost in researching it all.

God Goes With Me

From my experience in those nine years that I spent trying to find health, I saw a lot of providers. Many didn’t give me hope, but only a bunch of pills.

Repeatedly, I heard the words, “it’s all in your head!”. I knew that this wasn’t the case, how did this all in my head happen overnight?

Indeed, I’ve become my own advocate in my health (and now other issues) so I have started to research a lot on my own. Of course, many times unbeknownst to me, God was paving the way and putting smart individuals in my path.

Each struggle brought with it a person on my path that led me to someone that could help me. Looking back, God was so smart.

God knew what He was doing. He orchestrated my journey through that time. He brought people and events in my path to lead me to healing, greater faith, and purpose!

The last year though, has been hard. I’m sure you’re nodding your head in agreement.

Once again, I find myself asking and questioning God, “why?”

Why has such evil becoming commonplace? Why does it seem like you’re being pushed farther and farther away in our nation? Are evil people advancing and winning?

Here’s the deal and it’s sometimes so hard for us to understand. He has the power to expose and use justice and yet it seems like everything is spiraling out of control.

We can’t see Him working or using his power in grandiose ways, so we assume He’s not doing anything.

That is wrong thinking above!

However, when I go back to His word, I have confirmation that what appears like a circus show through my eyes, is the reality that God has never ever lost any ounce of control.

As the last few weeks have felt like legions of evilness are descending upon this earth, I was reassured in God’s word.

God Saves Me

In his Word, we read 2 Kings 6:14-18:

(Here’s the back story, the Arameans were at war with Israel. Somehow the plans of this enemy king have been intercepted by Elisha (because He was God’s servant) and the king of Aram send his officials to go capture Elisha.)

Then he sent horses and chariots and a strong force there. They went by night and surrounded the city.

15 When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. “Oh no, my lord! What shall we do?” the servant asked.

16 “Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered. “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”

17 And Elisha prayed, “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.” Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

18 As the enemy came down toward him, Elisha prayed to the Lord, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked.

God Never Leaves Me

What did the servant of Elisha see?

All he could see was the enemy descending like a force that was too impossible to overcome.

What do we see right now? When we turn on the news, we will see a bunch of enemies. The world is dark and everything connecting to God is being snuffed out.

And what did Elisha ask God to do?

He asked God to open the eyes of the servant to see God’s army. Once that servant’s eyes were open, he knew that there was nothing to worry about.

My question to you (and to myself also) is, what are our eyes seeing?

Are we seeing with our human eyes? The impossible, ever-descending evil?

Or are we seeing the power of God and the control and power of God?!

God is My God

I think what I haven been writing about isn’t new for you or for me, however, when hard seasons happen, its easy to forget what we know.

It’s easy to feel defeated and begin to ask God, “why is this happening? I don’t understand why you aren’t doing anything?”

Here’s what we forget. Just as Elisha’s servant couldn’t see until God opened HIs eyes, we can’t see either if we aren’t looking with eyes of faith.

Once Elisha’s servant saw God’s army, he was bolstered and then the next miracle happened.

The enemy army became blind and Elisha lead them away to another city.

Could that be the answer? When we open our eyes of faith and realize that God’s already working, we can then watch the miracle happen?!?

Here’s what I know in my heart right now. All this evil that is being exposed, justice will be served and many people will be brought to faith and saved.

God is our God. He is for us! He is saving us and He is with us.

Are you ready to be part of the greatest harvest of souls ever?

God is With Us Our Entire Lives

Because we know life is hard, we need to come back to these verses often.

Isn’t that just like our humanness?

We forget and need to be reminded over and over again. (Or at least I do. I’ll be bolstered by my faith and as the days go on, I forget and need to remember and reaffirm!)
